Description
This Apple Brie Appetizer is a quick, elegant party finger food featuring crisp apple slices, creamy brie, and a drizzle of honey or jam. Perfect for entertaining, it’s easy to customize and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
- 2 large crisp apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), washed, cored, and sliced into thin wedges
- 8 oz brie cheese (double-cream preferred), sliced into small, thin pieces
- 24 crostini, crackers, or toasted baguette slices (use gluten-free crackers if needed)
- 2–3 tbsp honey (or fig jam/apricot preserves, optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (lightly toasted, optional)
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme or rosemary leaves (optional)
- Sea salt flakes, to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- Lemon juice (for tossing apple slices, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange crostini, baguette slices, or crackers on a baking sheet and toast for 3-5 minutes until golden and crisp. Let cool slightly. (Skip if using store-bought crackers.)
- Wash and core apples. Slice into thin wedges, about 1/4 inch thick. Toss with a little lemon juice to prevent browning if prepping ahead.
- Slice brie cheese into small pieces to fit each apple slice. If brie is too soft, chill in freezer for 10 minutes for easier slicing.
- Lay out toasted crostini or crackers. Place an apple slice on each base, then top with a piece of brie. (For a gooier bite, layer brie under the apple and bake briefly.)
- Drizzle each piece with honey or fig jam. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, fresh thyme or rosemary, sea salt flakes, and black pepper as desired.
- Optional: For melty brie, place assembled bites back in the oven for 2-3 minutes until cheese softens. Watch closely.
- Transfer to a serving platter, garnish with extra herbs or nuts, and serve immediately. Best enjoyed slightly warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For best results, assemble just before serving to keep crackers crisp. Use a mandoline for even apple slices and chill brie for easier slicing. Customize toppings with jams, nuts, or herbs. For gluten-free, use GF crackers; for vegan, use plant-based brie and agave. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reassemble before serving.
