Description
This Cinnamon Roll Cruffin recipe combines the flaky goodness of croissants and muffins, filled with warm cinnamon roll filling and topped with a caramel apple drizzle. It’s a delightful treat perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (plus more for greasing)
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith)
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease your muffin tin with butter or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Brush the surface with softened butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the dough.
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces. Take each piece and press it down slightly before placing it in the muffin tin, standing upright.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the cruffins are baking, toss the chopped apples in lemon juice. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the apples and caramel sauce. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the apples start to soften.
- Once the cruffins are done, allow them to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Drizzle the caramel apple mixture over the top.
Notes
For a quicker option, you can use store-bought puff pastry instead of making the dough from scratch.
