- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk (or almond milk for a dairy-free option)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and core the apples, then slice them into rings about 1/4 inch thick.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Dip each apple ring into the batter, making sure they are well coated.
- Place the coated apple fritter rings onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the fritters are baking, mix the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Once the fritters are out of the oven, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Serve warm, optionally with a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Notes
Letting the fritters cool for a few minutes before tossing them in cinnamon sugar helps the coating stick better.
