Description

These Cinnamon Sugar Baked Apple Fritter Rings are a delightful treat that combines tender apples with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating, baked to perfection for a healthier option. Perfect for brunch, dessert, or a cozy snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk (or almond milk for a dairy-free option)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and core the apples, then slice them into rings about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Dip each apple ring into the batter, making sure they are well coated.
  7. Place the coated apple fritter rings onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While the fritters are baking, mix the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  10. Once the fritters are out of the oven, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  11. Serve warm, optionally with a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Notes

Letting the fritters cool for a few minutes before tossing them in cinnamon sugar helps the coating stick better.
