Description

These crispy fried jalapeños are packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat, making them a perfect appetizer for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1012 medium-sized fresh jalapeños, sliced in half and seeded
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 12 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola recommended)

Instructions

  1. Prep the jalapeños by slicing them in half and removing the seeds.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  3. Spoon the cheese mixture into each half of the jalapeño, filling them generously.
  4. Set up the breading station with flour in one bowl, beaten egg in a second bowl, and breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Dip each stuffed jalapeño first in flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully add the breaded jalapeños in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a healthier option, try baking them at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
