Ingredients
Scale
- 10–12 medium-sized fresh jalapeños, sliced in half and seeded
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1–2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola recommended)
Instructions
- Prep the jalapeños by slicing them in half and removing the seeds.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
- Spoon the cheese mixture into each half of the jalapeño, filling them generously.
- Set up the breading station with flour in one bowl, beaten egg in a second bowl, and breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Dip each stuffed jalapeño first in flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add the breaded jalapeños in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For a healthier option, try baking them at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
