Terms Of Services

Last Updated: August 26, 2025

Welcome to Falvory! These terms explain the rules for using our website, recipes, and content. We’ve tried to write this in plain English because legal jargon helps nobody cook better fish.

Acceptance of Terms

By using Falvory.com, subscribing to our newsletter, or interacting with our content, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with any part of these terms, please don’t use our site (but we hope you’ll reconsider because our fish tacos are really good).

Use of Content

What You Can Do:

  • Use our recipes for personal cooking and family meals
  • Share links to our recipes on social media
  • Print recipes for your own kitchen use
  • Adapt recipes for dietary restrictions or preferences
  • Share your cooking results and modifications in comments

What You Cannot Do:

  • Copy our entire recipes and republish them elsewhere without permission
  • Use our content for commercial purposes without explicit written consent
  • Remove our attribution or claim our recipes as your own original work
  • Use our photos without permission (we work hard on food photography!)

Fair Use Guidelines: Short excerpts with proper attribution and links back to our site are generally okay. When in doubt, email us at legal@falvory.com – we’re usually pretty accommodating for fellow food lovers.

User Contributions

Comments Policy: We love hearing from you! Comments should be helpful, respectful, and related to the recipe or article. We reserve the right to remove comments that are spam, offensive, completely off-topic, or mean-spirited toward other community members.

Recipe Modifications: When you share adaptations or modifications, you’re giving us permission to feature your ideas in future content (with credit to you, of course).

Photos and Stories: If you send us photos of your cooking results or personal stories, you’re giving us permission to share them on our website and social media (we’ll always ask first and give you credit).

Community Guidelines: Be kind, be helpful, be honest about your results. We’re all here to learn and help each other cook better seafood.

Intellectual Property

Our Content: All original recipes, articles, photos, and videos on Falvory are protected by copyright. We own or have permission to use all content on our site.

Trademarks: “Falvory” and our logo are our trademarks. Please don’t use them without permission.

Traditional Recipes: Many of our recipes are based on traditional cooking methods passed down through fishing families and coastal communities. We don’t claim ownership of these traditional techniques, but we do own our specific recipe interpretations and instructions.

Your Content: When you submit comments, modifications, or stories, you retain ownership but give us permission to use them in connection with Falvory.

Health and Safety Disclaimers

Food Safety: Seafood requires careful handling and cooking. Always follow safe food handling practices, cook to recommended temperatures, and trust your senses – if something looks, smells, or tastes off, don’t eat it.

Allergies: We include common allergen information, but we cannot guarantee that recipes are safe for all allergies. Always check ingredients carefully and consult with healthcare providers if you have severe food allergies.

Nutritional Information: Nutrition data is estimated based on standard ingredient databases. Actual nutrition may vary based on specific ingredients, preparation methods, and portion sizes.

Dietary Restrictions: Our recipe adaptations for various dietary needs are suggestions, not medical advice. Consult healthcare providers for specific dietary requirements related to medical conditions.

Limitation of Liability

We work hard to provide accurate, tested recipes and information, but we can’t guarantee perfect results in every kitchen with every cook and every piece of fish.

What We’re Not Responsible For:

  • Recipe results that don’t match your expectations
  • Ingredient substitutions that don’t work out
  • Food safety issues from improper handling or storage
  • Allergic reactions or dietary complications
  • Kitchen accidents or equipment problems

Maximum Liability: If something goes wrong that is legally our fault, our liability is limited to the amount you paid to access our content (which is currently nothing, since our site is free).

Common Sense Rule: Use your judgment. If a recipe instruction seems wrong or dangerous, don’t follow it blindly. When in doubt, contact us at contact@falvory.com.

External Links Policy

We link to fish markets, sustainable seafood guides, equipment recommendations, and other helpful resources. We don’t control these external sites and aren’t responsible for their content, practices, or policies.

Affiliate Disclosure: If we ever use affiliate links (where we earn a small commission), we’ll clearly disclose this. Currently, we don’t use affiliate links – when we recommend products, it’s because we genuinely use and like them.

User Accounts and Data

Account Creation: Currently, we don’t require accounts for most site features, but this may change as we add new functionality like recipe saving.

Data Handling: Your use of our site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Account Termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms, but we prefer to have conversations and resolve issues when possible.

Content Accuracy and Updates

Recipe Testing: All our recipes are tested multiple times before publication, but results can vary based on ingredients, equipment, and technique.

Content Updates: We regularly update recipes based on reader feedback and improved techniques. We’ll note significant changes in recipe update logs.

Seasonal Changes: Seafood availability and pricing change seasonally and regionally. Our recommendations reflect general guidelines, not real-time market conditions.

Error Corrections: When we make mistakes (and we do), we fix them promptly and notify affected users when possible.

Age Restrictions

Our content is designed for home cooks of all skill levels, but users under 13 should have parental supervision when cooking, especially when handling raw seafood, sharp knives, and hot cooking surfaces.

Modification of Terms

We may update these terms occasionally to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. When we do:

Notification: We’ll notify newsletter subscribers of significant changes and post updated terms on the website with a new date.

Continued Use: Continued use of the site after terms are updated means you accept the new terms.

Major Changes: For significant changes that affect user rights, we’ll seek explicit consent rather than assuming agreement.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, where Falvory is based.

Dispute Resolution: If we have a disagreement, we’d prefer to resolve it through direct communication first. Contact us at legal@falvory.com and let’s try to work it out like reasonable people.

Legal Action: Any legal disputes will be handled in the courts of Charleston County, South Carolina.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found legally unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in effect.

We’re real people running a real business built on helping families cook better seafood. These terms exist to protect everyone involved, but we’d much rather focus on recipe development and community building. If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions about these terms, please reach out – we’re always happy to have honest conversations about how to make Falvory work better for everyone.
