Description
This Ultimate French Onion Beef Casserole is a comforting dish packed with rich flavors, tender beef, and gooey cheese, perfect for family dinners or cozy gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (preferably lean)
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 cup French fried onions
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the sliced onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef mixture with the cooked noodles. Mix until everything is well coated.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top, followed by the French fried onions. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
For the best flavor, take your time caramelizing the onions. Don’t rush it! Low and slow is the way to go.
